General English Language Courses

If you decide to take one of our excellent English courses then you will need to learn the four main English language skills which include: reading, writing, speaking and listening. We also have an other main focus other than developing on listening and speaking skills but also to help the students improve on their vocabulary skills because by doing this it will help the students have a proper English conversation which they will need to continue studying in one of the UK’s universities.

 One of the main purposes of this English course at Oxford House College is to help students from all over the world use general English in everyday situations such as in the bank, whilst at the shops, on the bus or even in the post office.

Whilst on the English language course you will need to study from a course book. We recommend that you buy a copy before the course from the language schools library. Your tutor may also use a number of other different types of learning materials such as audio tapes or newspapers during the course but these will be provided by the college.

At the start of the course your tutor will usually assess your current knowledge and skills of the English language to ensure that you are in the correct group whilst taking the course. There are numerous different levels of the course available and will take approximately 180 classroom hours but of course you will also have to practice at home as well.

As with all of our language courses you will have a counselling sessions towards the end of each month to check how you are getting on. During one of the sessions it ay also be a good idea to go through with your tutor what your strengths and weaknesses are whilst learning the English language.
